The Illinois Migrant Council is a statewide community-based, non-profit organization with the primary mission of promoting employment, education, and other opportunities for migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families to achieve economic self-sufficiency.

Case Management Services
IMC coordinates with local Illinois One Stop Career Centers through case management, information sharing, and referrals for training. IMC offers these employment services for eligible farmworkers seeking employment: Employability Assessment, Job Counseling, English-as-a-Second-Language, Job Readiness, Occupational Skills Training, On-the-Job Training, Job Search and Placement, Assistance with Co-enrollment in One Stop Career Center Programs, Follow-up to Assist Job Retention. Assistance is available for participants enrolled in NFJP training when they need work clothing and tools, transportation, resettlement, and child care to complete their training or find a job. IMC also provides continuing follow-up and job counseling to help participants during training so they may meet their job goals and attain stable employment.
Educational and Supportive Services
Scholarships funded by the IL Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity enable eligible youth to attend Illinois colleges. Migrant Education Even Start (MEES) offers literacy services to migrant families with children from birth to age eight. VISIT: www.illinoismees.org. Bilingual Health Prevention and Education: Workshops and forums address the need for HIV-AIDS, breast, cervical and prostate cancer information in Latino and farmworker communities in rural Illinois.IMC's Technology Learning Center: Provides community bilingual technology instruction, and online access to One-Stop Career Center employment resources and career exploration. Farmworker Housing services include rent subsidies for low-income farmworkers (IL Housing Development Authority), educational sessions, and developing farmworker housing in Central Illinois. Emergency Service Referrals assist eligible farmworker families in crisis by referring them to local resources faith-based and community-based organizations for emergency food and shelter, health services, counseling, translation, etc.
